A rich legacy of hard work

Originally built for Olson Rugs in 1928, the building at the heart of The Fields campus has undergone many changes through the decades, with one constant — this building is a genuine workhorse.

Today it stands proud on Chicago’s vibrant North West side, coming back to life through thoughtful investment and an intentionally dynamic mix of tenants and uses.

Built for the Olson Rug Company in 1928, this manufacturing mill was located at Diversey Ave. and Pulaski (then named Crawford). When raw material was scarce during the war era, people would send in their old wool rugs, rags, clothing, etc. and Olson Rug would turn them into a beautiful area rug. The family-owned business was the place to buy rugs for many years.

Olson Rug Company also built a 22-acre park (Olson Park) for employees and the local community. This park featured a stunning rock garden, duck pond, and 35-foot waterfall that made it a Chicago destination for family outings for decades.

Located at the intersection of Logan Square, Avondale, and Hermosa, The Fields Studios is embedded in one of Chicago’s most creative and culturally dynamic districts. Within a two-mile radius, the surrounding area is home to 12 Michelin-starred restaurants, reflecting the neighborhood’s nationally recognized dining scene. More than a dozen public parks and trails are located within close proximity of The Fields Studios, offering rare access to green space alongside an active urban environment. Anchored by strong transit connections, nearby hospitals, established lumber yards, light-industrial services, and neighborhood retail corridors, the campus benefits from a unique balance of creative culture, production-ready infrastructure, and everyday amenities.
